Pop superstar Adele emerged as the top victor at tonight's 59th Annual Grammy Awards, receiving five trophies, including album of the year for "25" and record and song of the year for her comeback album's lead-off smash "Hello".

The 59th Annual Grammy Awards kicks off 8 p.m. Sunday night on CBS. The crowd at the Grammys was totally cool with Adele starting over, by the way - not that I think anyone would have taken THIS moment to be like, "RULES ARE RULES, ADELE!". Hillary Scott & Family won for best contemporary Christian music performance/song with "Thy Will" off of their album "Love Remains". "I'm very humbled and very grateful and gracious, but my life is Beyoncé".

Minutes before coming on stage to accept her trophy for Best Song of the Year, Adele began a tribute to george Michale only to stop and start again. The Grammys have moved to a point where the number of performances is more than double that of the awards given out on television. For the second time in her career, Adele swept Song, Record and Album of the Year at the Grammys. "I adore you and I want you to be my mommy".

Drake, who isn't attending the live show, won best rap song and rap/sung performance for the smash hit, "Hotline Bling". However, Ocean didn't even submit his album for awards consideration, but rather than make the Grammys seem more in touch, it actually makes the Grammys seem a lot less important.

Some actors won Grammys, too: Don Cheadle picked up best compilation soundtrack for visual media for "Miles Ahead", where he is credited as a compilation producer, and Carol Burnett won the best spoken word album Grammy.

Adele won album of the year for "25" - the best-selling album of both 2015 and 2016.

Prince's band, The Time, kicked off the tribute with their songs "Jungle Love" and "The Bird", which were written and produced by late impresario.

He added, "I'm a better artist, and a better person, for having known him".

Josh Dun and Tyler Joseph of Twenty One Pilots accepted their first-ever Grammy award in their underwear.

Other stars to perform over the course of the night included Ed Sheeran, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga, who hit the stage with rock legends, Metallica.

Kanye West and Rihanna weren't as fortunate.
