Bruno Mars just gave a jaw-dropping Grammy tribute to Prince

(Hint: It's "gaga.") The Prince tribute at the 2017 Grammys was off to a great start. Bruno finished the song with an unreal guitar solo that would make Prince proud. George Michael, another pop legend who dominated the '80s, also received a tribute at the 59th annual Grammy Awards.

Also, some of the most likely - and best - tributes had already been done.

It feels like it's been an eon since Prince suddenly passed away last spring, but it hasn't even been a year yet. But looking the part isn't the same as sounding it, and Mars' voice was almost swallowed by the waves of reverb that once buoyed Prince's vocals.

"If he calls us and presents the right dollar amount", said Day. Members in the audience, including Snoop Dogg, Beyoncé, and Jay Z, joined in on the dance that "Jungle Love" inspired. His rendition of "Let's Go Crazy" didn't just get the audience on their feet, it literally had them going insane in the aisle and yelling back the "uh oh let's go" portions at the tops of their lungs.

The Time spoke briefly in the press room shortly after their performance.

The tribute on the biggest night on the year for the music establishment - with which Prince long fought - was meant to kickstart a new commercial chapter for the artist who died in April.
