Welcome to our live coverage of the 2017 Grammy Awards.

The evening's biggest prize is only one of eight nominations Drake has in his pocket. Will President Donald Trump gatecrash the festivities in a year that has been especially hard for the music industry with the passing of David Bowie, Prince and Leonard Cohen?

People magazine has also reported that Kanye West and Justin Bieber might also not be there.

Simpson, who is also nominated for album of the year, beat out fellow nominees Brandy Clark, Loretta Lynn, Maren Morris and Keith Urban for the honor.

Two years ago, he had a public tantrum, trying to storm the stage, when Beck won Album of the Year over Beyoncé.

According to an unnamed TMZ source, Bieber has said that the Grammys are not relevant to younger singers.

The artist, father and activist is now a two-time Grammy victor, becoming the first streaming only artist in music history to do so.

So far, just the Grammy-nominated single "No Problem", which features verses from Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz, has made much of an impact on the charts.

Back in 1991, Sinead O'Connor boycotted the Grammys for their "extreme commercialism".

This was later spoofed in a hilarious Saturday Night Live skit with Jan Hooks playing O'Connor, Dana Carvey impersonating Paul McCartney, and Mike Meyers acting as Phil Collins.

David Bowie's final album, released days after he died of cancer a year ago, earned him three Grammy Awards on Sunday, while Beyonce and Adele also picked up early awards.

Among the scheduled performers at the Emmys are Beyonce, Adele, Lukas Graham, Sheeran, Bruno Mars and Katy Perry.

Beyonce is competing head on with Britain's Adele, the only other artist to be nominated for all three top awards - album, song and record of the year - for her comeback release "25".

Sturgill Simpson's "A Sailor's Guide to Earth" is the victor of this year's Grammy Award for best country album.

Over his career Drake has received 35 Grammy nominations but has only won once.

Best jazz vocal album: "Take Me to the Alley", Gregory Porter.
