Winnipeg Police say they have talked to the man they were looking for following a freakish incident at St. Vital Centre last week.

The incident happened around 1:50 p.m. February 19 when the girl was shopping with several friends at the St.

When the girls noticed this, they ducked away to hide and when the 14-year-old went to scratch her back she found she was covered in what her mother calls "some sort of sticky wet liquid".

Police said at some point, the man "sprayed or otherwise deposited" an unknown substance on the clothing of one of the girls.

The girls were shopping inside the mall at just before 2 p.m., Sunday, and said they were followed by an unknown man. Police said the man was following them so closely that the girls felt the need to evade him and walked into a store.

The man co-operated with investigators and charges will only be considered "once the forensic examination of the substance seized has been verified and concluded", police said in a news release.

It's unclear when that testing might be completed.

Last week when police announced they were looking into the incident, investigators said the substance may have been a bodily fluid.
