Gurmehar Kaur has been receiving threats and abuse after her campaign against a right-wing student union.

She says "the campaign is about students and not about me".

Kaur also visited the Delhi Commission for Women alleging that she received rape threats on social media for posting the message. I can think. I don't support violence perpetuated on students? "I said what I had to say", Kaur tweeted.

Meanwhile, celebrities such as Ranjeet Hooda and Virender Sehwag were accused of bullying the 20-year-old after they took to social media sites to ridicule Kaur's stand. Hooda described the young woman as a "political pawn".

She had filed a complaint with DCW chief Swati Malliwal who further wrote to Delhi Police Commissioner asking him to register an FIR in the case and arrest the culprits.

Adding that she's being influenced by other politicians, Chauhan said, "Jabse hamari sarkaar aaie hai, bahot logon ke pait mein dard hai (Since the time out government (BJP) has come to power, someone or the other has issues with it)".

Responding to the critics, Kaur told PTI, "I'm really disappointed with the statements about my campaign especially from the "famous" people who are questioning my nationalism".

The literature students classmates and peers started sharing the post, prompting students from various universities across the country to change their profile pictures with the same placard, as the initiative went viral. I am not afraid of ABVP. Akhtar tweeted, "I don't know about her but Mr Minister I know who is polluting your mind".

Gurmehar has been given police protection after she alleged rape threats over her posts against the ABVP.

The RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad called it a "march for the nation" as it demanded action against Left-leaning groups for inviting JNU student leader Umar Khalid to speak at an event in Ramjas College last week.
