Intel chair suggests Trump's wiretap claim shouldn't be taken literally

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes said the hearing is scheduled for March 20.

When asked about the White House's push for Congress to investigate the claim, Burr responded, "We're working as fast as we can but we can only go where the facts or the intelligence send us". FBI Director James Comey, National Security Agency Director Mike Rogers, former CIA Director John Brennan, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, and former Attorney General Sally Yates have been invited to testify, CNN reports. We will add to that as we see fit.

The Republican lawmaker also said that relevant members of Congress were not fully briefed on investigations conducted during the campaign by law enforcement, an issue that he expects will come up during the March 20 hearing.

Former Trump National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, a figure who is at the center of the Russian Federation intelligence investigation, is not part of the list.

In addition, Nunes said that he has had no communication with the White House regarding the request. "But if we have to, we will subpoena all information that is pertinent to this investigation if people either. don't want to appear or if the appropriate agencies do not provide the information we ask for". "General Flynn is obviously tangent to some of this because of his name involved a lot of".

The panel will examine a wide range of subjects related to Russia's activities, including contacts by members of Trump's campaign with Russian officials; alleged leaks by U.S. intelligence officials on the matter to media; and Trump's accusation Saturday that former president Barack Obama had USA intelligence or law enforcement wiretap his Trump Tower in NY.

"At this point, we don't have any evidence of that", he said.

So we're not supposed to take what the president says literally. Was it incidental collection like we all assume or something else? And I think it's a valid question, if indeed it was a question, that if you look at General Flynn, why was he being recorded? "And was there any other additional incidental recordings of phone calls?"
