Lafayette High School students return after bomb threat

A bomb threat Monday morning forced the evacuation of Edgemont High School in the Town of Greenburgh.

Perry did not specify what form the threat took or how it came to the attention of the school district. Bomb sniffing dogs were brought in to search the school. He said they did find a backpack near some bleachers outside, but it only contained clothes. The Bomb Squad was also on scene to assist.

WJCC Schools tweeted at 11 a.m. that the high school was evacuated "as a precaution", adding that police and fire were on the scene.

LHS Families, this morning at approximately 10:15 a.m., LHS received a telephone bomb threat. "An additional announcement will be made once students and staff return to the building".

"All students and staff are safe and secure", Gorham Superintendent Heather Perry said in an email statement.

All students and employees were evacuated without incident and law enforcement and fire department officials searched the school. Students/staff re-entering building. Lunch will be served. The fourth block period of the day has been shortened and dismissal remains at its regular time.
