In a rare coincidence, the top National Hockey League stars of the week mostly hailed from Halifax.

Calgary Flames goaltender Brian Elliott is one of the NHL's three stars of the week.

After tallying nine points over his last three games, Bruins winger Brad Marchand has been named the NHL's First Star of the Week. The 28-year-old forward posted his second career hat trick on March 13 against the Canucks, adding an assist in the 6-3 win over Vancouver.

It's become par for the course for Marchand, who leads all National Hockey League skaters in points since January 1, with 27 goals and 48 points in total.

Crosby was awarded second star after netting six goals and being ranked second with eight points in four starts to guide the Penguins (45-17-9, 99 points) to a 2-1-1 week. Marchand also recorded an assist in that game. Crosby's 40 goals are his second-best season total, behind the 51 he scored in 2009-10 en route to sharing the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy.
