Chuck Berry's death came just weeks before the debut single off his first new studio album in almost four decades was scheduled to go on sale, a friend of the rock "n" roll legend said.

In a Facebook post, Berry's family says working on "Chuck" brought the rocker "a great sense of joy and satisfaction", and that there was "no better way to celebrate and remember his 90 years of life than through his music".

The world lost a true legend with the passing of Chuck Berry on March 18 and now we know what took the rock pioneer from us.

Ryan Adams has penned a heartfelt tribute to the late music legend Chuck Berry, whose rip-roaring songs about fast cars and young love left an indelible imprint on rock & roll as a whole and Adams in particular.

"This record is dedicated to my beloved [wife] Toddy", Berry said at the time the album was announced. I will open my scrapbook to a time when a guitarist, singer and songwriter played and influenced untold thousands of musicians.

He said: "He was one of the best and my inspiration, a true character indeed". "Now I can hang up up my shoes!"

"Inside the home, first responders observed an unresponsive man and immediately administered lifesaving techniques", read the report.

Chuck Berry died from natural causes.

'Unfortunately, the 90-year-oldman could not be revived and was pronounced deceased at 1.26pm.

He was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1986. He does. He was everything American parents feared of rock 'n roll pioneers, especially black men like Berry: loud, brash, sexy, talented, defiant and naughty. Hits like "Maybellene" and "Johnny B. Goode" are evergreens that will never fade from music history.

The success of "Johnny B. Goode" inspired Berry's followup songs "Bye Bye Johnny" and "Go Go Go", as well as his 1969 album Concerto in B. Goode and its almost 19-minute title track.
