Rick Pitino made mention of the reports earlier this week, but now it seems to be almost official.

"He's more than ready to be a head coach", Pitino said of Balado earlier this week.

The Arkansas State Athletics Department has announced it will hold a 10:00 a.m. (CT) press conference Monday, March 20, announcing Mike Balado as its new head men's basketball coach.

Balado succeeds Grant McCasland, who resigned to coach North Texas.

"I am extremely humbled and honored to be the head men's basketball coach at Arkansas State University", Balado said. "I just want him to make sure - I don't want him to leave; I want him to stay. I want to make sure he takes the right job, because certain guys sometimes take the wrong job".

During Balado's four seasons working with head coach Rick Pitino at Louisville, the Cardinals have posted a 106-31 overall record for a.774 winning percentage. Balado was an assistant at Florida Atlantic from 2005-2008.

Best of luck to Coach Balado moving forward, but let's go ahead and extend your time at Louisville by a couple of weeks.
