No truth in Tuchel to Arsenal reports

Arsenal have rubbished reports that they have made an approach for Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel, as speculation remains rife about the future of the Gunners' current head coach Arsene Wenger.

"We hope to win the FA Cup this season and qualify for the Champions League again", he said.

Despite his success in Germany, the Premier League club are firmly denying the rumours and remain adamant that a mutual decision between Wenger and the club will be made soon. "You will see", said Wenger after the 3-1 los at West Brom.

But Giroud told French television channel Infosport+: "We want to see Arsene Wenger continue, to continue the adventure, because we support him".

It's left Arsenal needing a huge improvement after the global break if they are to avoid missing out on Champions League football for the first-time on Wenger but, despite the clear issues and fan frustration, Wenger is set to remain in North London. "Today I do not worry about that". The veteran Frenchman and the Arsenal board have agreed on a two-year extension for Wenger, the Daily Mail has reported.

Gunners fans are divided over their degree of support for Wenger, who has overseen a sequence of six defeats in nine games, but Giroud insists the dressing room is behind the 67-year-old. Anti-Wenger fans flew a plane over The Hawthorns trailing a banner asking him to leave while another later proclaimed "In Arsene We Trust #RESPECTAW".

"I'll be surprised if he goes", he said. "I'm happy with my job in Dortmund and have a contract, so it is of no interest to me".
