Sonic Forces teased in brief new trailer

The Sonic series has always been known for its catchy tunes.

First up, Sega confirmed that Sonic Mania's launch date has dashed to Summer 2017, though the publisher also revealed a new trailer for the game's "Flying Battery Zone".

The consistency of the Sonic the Hedgehog games is all over the place with some being outstanding and a good many others being either forgettable or just straight up turds. The little blue hedgehog runs down steep hills collecting rings and destroying robots as the city around him is (presumably) being attacked by Doctor Eggman. But if you're into these type of Sonic games then I'm sure this is all gravy to you. Unfortunately, the trailer doesn't show any gameplay from the 2D portions of the game. Unlike the 2D counterparts, the game puts Sonic in a third person perspective similar to that of a racing game.

Sonic Forces will be released for the PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One this holiday season. I can't say I'm particularly looking forward to Sonic Forces, however-Sega's next 3D Sonic that doesn't so much come with a bit of baggage but rather a couple of decades' worth of bad, crap, naff and cringey Sonic games trailing behind it.
