Film-maker Aparna Sen, whose forthcoming directorial venture Sonata starring powerhouse performers Shabana Azmi and Lillete Dubey celebrates female bonding, says there are hardly any films on the topic."Basically, it is about female bonding".

Mumbai: Aparna Sen again brings a story of women centric which is exploring the mid life crisis with loneliness of three unmarried women living in Mumbai.

Although it remains unclear from the trailer whether Sen plans to stick to the original storyline of the play, the trailer sure looks like a melodious song sung by three friends as they sift through life.

Sonata, a 103-minute film, is adapted from a play by Mahesh Elkunchwar, that revolves around the lives of three friends.

Filmmaker Aparna Sen has unveiled the first trailer of her next, Sonata, and it is a liberating, fun-filled philosophical, poetic take on the life of women. Aruna Chaturvedi, Dolon Sen and Subhadra Parekh are being played by Sen, Azmi and Dubey respectively.

This film, largely an English feature film, can be expected to release around mid-April this year.
