Kyle Larson takes the Xfinity win at the Auto Club Speedway Saturday.

The scene at the Auto Club 400. As the race began to wind down, it appeared that whichever one of the two got out front was going to have the advantage. Truex won the second stage, but Larson slipped past him to reclaim the lead on the first lap of the final stage.

However, four cautions littered the final laps, the last of those sending the race into overtime.

The other storyline that developed in qualifying didn't even happen on the track. Dale Earnhardt Jr. also started his day at the rear of the field after electing to change a cut-tire on his No. 88 Nationwide Chevrolet. Vettel gave Ferrari its first GP victory since late 2015, beating Mercedes lead driver Lewis Hamilton to the line in the Australian Grand Prix by nearly ten seconds. "I've been watching all the TV like 'He doesn't know how to win, ' but we knew how to win today, so that was good". He finished 6th in the Auto Club 400, which is his third Top 10 finish in the last four events.

Daniel Hemric, Erik Jones and Cole Custer started from positions 2, 3 and 4 and easily kept pace with Logano through the early laps. Needless to say, he has enormous upside through place differential, and you need close to 100 percent exposure in cash games. Jimmie Johnson began the race in the 37 position after wrecking his No. 48 Lowes Chevrolet in practice and moving to a back-up vehicle. Only Matt Kenseth (618) has made more starts among active drivers.

Both got by Gallagher - who faded to 19 place over the final five laps - but neither had enough laps left to catch Larson. He should storm to toward the front Sunday.

It took a little patience, but Kyle Larson has lifted decorated vehicle owner Chip Ganassi back to the top of the stock auto racing world.

It was Larson's first win of the season after three runner-up finishes in a row and his second career Cup victory.

As pit stops cycled through, No. 78 Martin Truex Jr. managed to steal lead from Larson after his pit crew executed a flawless four-tire pit stop a half-second faster than the No. 42's crew.

Larson also became the only driver to place in the top 10 in all five first stages this season.

Busch pressured Larson until he was able to grab the lead back on the 49 lap and held on through lap 70 - the end of stage two. "I couldn't be happier for him".

Bayne was another victim on pre-qualifying inspection, and he will have to start 36th this weekend.

NASCAR shifts back to the east coast next weekend to run at the shortest track on the schedule-Martinsville (Va.) Speedway, a.526 mile oval that has hosted NASCAR races since 1949.

What a difference one position makes. Looking at the more affordable options, Dillon is once again one of the few drivers in his price range with a legit shot at finishing in the top half of the field. "Pulled away a little and that's when all the caution starting coming out". "So many people back in Charlotte, back at the home base putting the cars together, building our own chassis".

The re-start on lap 67 of the 200 lap race was clean with Truex nearly instantly passing Larson for the lead.
