2 killed when plane crashes in Connecticut woods

Two people were killed in a plane crash near Skylark Airport Tuesday evening. Investigators said the plane ended up nose-down with its tail in the air about 1,000 feet from someone's house.

They departed from Runway 10 in a Luscombe 8A aircraft and crashed in the woods at 6:45 p.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

He said it was a single engine plane that witnesses said stalled and went down.

A pair of LifeStar helicopters were called to the scene, but were canceled.

The FAA will investigate and the National Transportation Safety Board will determine the cause of the crash. Police said NTSB officials estimate it will take about two days to complete a thorough investigation.

Tolland County Dispatch said a small plane crashed on Rolocut Road by Wells Road in Broadbrook in East Windsor.

The identity of the victims have not been released.
