Beyond her Instagram post, the actress also shared the news of her return to Days of Our Lives with Soap Opera Digest, where she went into a bit more detail as to when she would be filming and how long she would be on set.

Salem's resident bad girl is back. "So, I figured out a schedule, blocked out some time that I had available, and we figured it out!"

She continued, "I'm really, really excited to be back in Salem". She sustained the injury on a ski trip, and it resulted in a surgery, having to wear a leg cast and months of physical therapy. "I'm coming back to Days", she revealed on Monday.

If you recall, the character of Sami left the fictions town of Salem, Illinois in 2014 for Hollywood after her husband get shot by the character Clyde Weston. Sweeney, however, made it clear that she didn't want to leave forever.

Days of our Lives airs weekdays on NBC.

HollywoodLifers, what do you think of Alison's temporary return to Days of Our Lives?

Since departing "Days", Sweeney has starred in a number of TV movies, including Hallmark's "Murder, She Baked" movie series and "The Irresistible Blueberry Farm".

Sweeney, who played the occasionally villainous Sami Brady/DiMera from 1993 to 2014, is returning to the fold for an extended visit, Soap Opera Digest reports. Sami and her two sons head to Los Angeles after executives offer to write the Sami Brady Story based on her struggles.
