Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to chase against Kings XI Punjab in the league game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 here on Thursday (April 20).

Mumbai will look to continue their sublime run when they take on struggling Punjab.

Despite starting their campaign with back-to-back victories, Kings XI slipped in the next three games and would now be desperate to get back to winning ways. The 29-year old has played some good knocks for his team this season and his 47-ball 70 against Royal Challengers Bangalore helped them seal an unlikely win at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

What complicated the Kings XI's problems is the instability and inconsistency of their batting order, as their marquee overseas buys - namely David Miller, Eoin Morgan and the captain Glenn Maxwell - haven't been able to play to their full potential so far.

Both team have won nine out of their 18 fixtures against each other. In their match against SRH, they scored a combined 24 runs. Tonight, MI would hope to better that record considering Kings XI have lost all three of their most recent games. This could be reason enough of KXIP to switch things around depending on the fitness of Shaun Marsh and Martin Guptill. And now, ahead of their next game against the Mumbai Indians, they need to come up with something very unique which could lead them to victory.

Mumbai Indians' captain Rohit Sharma has not been opening batsman he feels his experience is needed in the middle order. Rana has been Mumbai Indians' batsman of the season.

Their bowling unit, which includes a reliable Mohit Sharma, experienced Ishant Sharma and talented Axar Patel, needs to fire in unison. Kieron Pollard's contribution to the side can not be undermined after his match-winning knock against the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Harbhajan Singh has been fantastic in the powerplay overs, while Lasith Malinga and Mitchell McClenaghan have also been among wickets. Adding the mix Krunal and Hardik makes for a potent attack.
