Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook celebrates after hitting a buzzer beating three point shot to win the game against the Denver Nuggets Sunday, April 9, 2017, in Denver. Over the course of the season, Harden has averaged 20.5 points, 12.3 assists, and 7.3 rebounds per game against the Thunder.

With another MVP like moment occurring for Westbrook, it's safe to say that fans and experts should expect the former All Star Game MVP to add the Maurice Podoloff Trophy to his trophy case as we have witnessed a season like no other from an superstar athlete.

Russell Westbrook's season has been all about doing it all. Westbrook is considered by many as shoo-in for this year's MVP but his first-round rival, Houston's James Harden, is another candidate that could snatch the award from him.

Westbrook is the embodiment of value this season and it's time this be recognized in tangible fashion.

Oscar Robertson held the NBA's triple-double record for too long to be bitter over losing it. Coming out of a timeout down by two, he buried a 35-footer at the buzzer to give him 50 points on the night while lifting Oklahoma City over the Nuggets. That was until the Oklahoma City Thunder faced the Denver Nuggets.

The honor was announced Monday, a day after the Thunder point guard set the National Basketball Association record for most triple-doubles in a season.

He scored the Thunder's last 15 points to eliminate the Nuggets from play-off contention with a contested shot that set off a team celebration.

Harden has led the Rockets to the NBA' third-best record (54-26), scoring 29.2 points, 11.2 assists, and 8.1 rebounds.

"Y'all are probably going to get exhausted of me saying the same thing, but I promise you I've been blessed with so many things".

Even after losing Kevin Durant to the Golden State Warriors in the summer, the Thunder are back in the postseason as the Western Conference's No.6 seed, in large part because of Westbrook's heroics.

"Very, very blessed. I've got to give all the thanks from the man above", Westbrook said after the game.

Westbrook is obviously a top candidate for league MVP, and the obvious victor for some, with career-high averages of 31.9 points, 10.7 rebounds and 10.4 assists per game this season.

The milestone happened with 4:17 left in the fourth quarter after Westbrook assisted to Semaj Christon's three-pointer.
