Neville and Perkins make Aries pay for his insolence

After beating TJ Perkins in the main event, Austin Aries was jumped by both him and Neville after the match, making it clear that he's at a disadvantage at Payback with TJP in Neville's corner. A box was delivered to Alicia Fox on WWE 205 Live that Dar quickly asserted was from him. Tozawa and Kendrick continued their very long lesson session.

To this point, the rivalry between Neville and Austin Aries hasn't had much in the way of mistakes. As he did, they showed footage of what went down last week in the Tozawa/Brian Kendrick feud. Nese controlled a lot of the match. Brian Kendrick came out and watched on from ringside. Tozawa rolls up Nese for the surprise win. Nese clotheslines Kendrick down and Tozawa moves outside. After the match, Nese attacked Kendrick from behind, which led to Tozawa grabbing a mic and telling Kendrick that he needed eyes in the back of his head.

- Rich Swann makes his way to the ring as we take a look back at the powder shower that Alicia Fox took at the hands of the last mystery gift. Swann says Alexander is one of his best friends and Fox broke his heart by leaving him for some "Euro-trash pervert". Fox then came out. Fox calls Dar immature, and says his cologne stinks. Dar, stunned, wanted to know what this was all about. When Swann was confronted by The Scottish Supernova about the claim, Swann seemingly laid out a master plan to expose Dar's ruse to his leading lady. She revealed that she never really cared about him, and was just using him as he seemed to have potential. That was pretty much the most notable thing about this match. The crowd halfheartedly at best sang the goodbye song as he left. She turns to Swann and thanks him for the gifts and wants to give him what he deserves. He went over all of the things he got her and he said she deserved them. Swann asks if she remembers Cedric Alexander.

Alicia said fine, being single is fine anyway. He had a microphone in the ring and said that Fox has had a week to think things over, so he wants her to come out. A video aired which showed him pulling up to the arena in a very nice auto and telling the valet not to scratch it.

Ali had the advantage early. Ali fights up, but a tornado DDT turned into a spinebuster for a nearfall by Daivari. They had a pretty good back and forth match while it lasted.

Mustafa Ali came out for a match against Ariya Daivari.

We are LIVE from Louisville, Ky. Ali's short-sighted high flying brand of competition - that has no future.

Welcome to the WrestlingINC.com Live Viewing Party for WWE 205 Live.

I thought this was a solid main event.

Overall, this was a pretty forgettable episode of 205 Live.

Aries tweaked his knee when going for a 450 splash, giving Perkins the opportunity to work over that body part. Corner forearm and a 450 from Aries land, but Perkins gets his foot on the bottom rope.

Around the five-minute mark, Ali made his comeback and hit his front roll into a leaping neckbreaker for a two-count. Aries floated behind him and boxed his ears, then followed with the discus fivearm for the win. Detonation Kick from Perkins and Rings of Saturn form Neville. "This mean streak, this confidence, dare I say, this cockiness, that TJ Perkins has lacked in the last several months is obviously what he was missing". The main event featured Austin Aries taking on TJ Perkins. Perkins steps on Aries' face then with a nonchalant cover while dabbing.

Between the predictable, flat ending of the Dar storyline they've been pushing for months, the Kendrick/Tozawa feud that feels like it's never going to end, and the Gulak/Ali feud that already feels pretty bad, this episode was a flawless representation of that.

People can have all the talent in the world, but when you put them in scenarios that make it 10 times tougher to get over, most of the time even the most talented people can't keep their head above water.
