The 17-year-old Orofino teenager who ran away after his prom earlier this week died Wednesday afternoon after a vehicle crash on Sunny Side Bench Road near Lenore, Idaho. They say the driver lost control of the auto and rolled down an embankment. Perez was extricated from the auto and airlifted to a hospital where he later died.

Kristian Perez was flown by Life Flight helicopter to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.

Perez was reported missing by his mother on April 15 after leaving the Orofino High School prom around 9:30 p.m. He rode with a relative to the dance, and his shoe, broken cell phone and tuxedo jacket were found near that vehicle. According to the Spokesman-Review, police found Perez's broken cellphone, tuxedo jacket, and one shoe near the vehicle of a relative who had driven Perez to prom.

Imel has been charged by criminal complaint with providing housing or other accommodations without the authority of the parents or guardian of the child, a misdemeanor.
