The agreement is also said to be "structured to reflect and promote the value of Merlin's collective offering of its members' repertoire, while offering improved marketing and advertising opportunities and enhanced access to data".

Spotify has already been streaming artists from Merlin's roster of labels for nearly a decade, but now they've signed a new deal that will allow Merlin's labels to limit new albums to Spotify's $10 monthly subscription service for up to two weeks, though specific singles may still be made available across the free ad-supported tier. Secretly Group, Sub Pop and Warp, representing numerous world's most important and successful artists. This new agreement lays the path to future sustainable growth for us both, and we look forward to remaining an integral part in the service's continued success'.

The agreement sounds identical to the one Spotify signed with UMG earlier this month, and it was only a matter of time before other labels followed suit.

Beggars Group founder and Merlin chairman Martin Mills added, "We've been great partners for each other, and this updated arrangement allows independents in the Merlin community the comfort of knowing they have a highly competitive deal and parity of access to the service, whilst creating a commercial environment in which Spotify can grow to the benefit of all of us".

"Indie music has been a huge part of our success since day one and I am super happy to say we have a new, multi-year deal with Merlin Network", co-founder and CEO Daniel Ek tweeted on Thursday.

In a joint statement, the two companies claimed the deal would "advance their partnership to ensure that streaming realises its full transformational potential for artists, labels and fans by delivering a comprehensive range of music experiences".

Warner Music Group and Sony Music have yet to comment on whether or not they will be entering into similar windowing agreements with Spotify.
