They are the top overall seed in the D-League playoffs.

It's hard to imagine having a better first year on the job than Jerry Stackhouse did.

An assistant previous year on Dwane Casey's staff with the Toronto Raptors, Stackhouse took over the D-League head coaching job and had nothing but success, leading the 905 to the best record in the league, 39-11, and an all-time best road record of 21-4.

The Raptors 905 play the Maine Red Claws on Wendesday night in Game 2 of the D-League's Eastern Conference finals.

Stackhouse, in his first season as a head coach, led Raptors 905 (39-11) to its first Central Division title and the top overall seed in the 2017 National Basketball Association D-League Playoffs.

The Raptors used their D-League affiliate to provide valuable playing minutes for prospects Fred VanVleet, Pascal Siakam and Bruno Caboclo.

With his eyes likely set on earning an National Basketball Association head coaching job in the future, this honor should help prove Stackhouse's credentials as teams begin their annual search processes in the upcoming offseason.

But Stackhouse and his staff did more than just develop players in the Toronto system.

Stackhouse was named head coach of Raptors 905 after serving as an assistant coach last season with the Toronto Raptors, the team's National Basketball Association parent club. "I saw Tavares got defensive player of the year, that was huge". He was in his third season coaching in the National Basketball Association D-League when he passed away in 2007.

He won the annual award after balloting by all the league's head coaches.
