Falcao has warned Monaco not to think Dortmund are out of the champions league yet, as they prepare for the second leg.

Radamel Falcao was guilty of a glaring miss in the first leg, but he caused Dortmund's defence problems all night and got the goal his performances over the two legs has deserved.

Monaco, which reached the semifinals in 2004 on its way to the final, will join 2015 runner-up Juventus, defending champion Real Madrid and beaten finalist Atletico Madrid in Friday's tough draw.

The team from the Mediterranean principality were too good for their German opponents in Wednesday's (Thursday in Manila) quarterfinals second leg, winning 3-1 at the Stade Louis II to advance 6-3 on aggregate.

Last week's first leg was postponed by 24 hours after the Dortmund team bus was attacked with explosives on its way to the stadium.

Following a five-minute delay to kick off after the Dortmund team bus had been held up by police en route to the stadium, Mbappe fired the hosts into an early lead.

"Tonight, we played a very solid game, we were in control but we showed ambition".

Dortmund midfielder Nuri Sahin hit a post with a free-kick before Falcao headed in a second for Monaco on 17 minutes to all but end the match as a contest. They have a great team, and we have no experience, but we will see how it goes.

Marco Reus has returned to first-team action and should start against Monaco with Borussia Dortmund 3-2 down from the first leg. "We felt ready to push for a semi-final place before the tie but things changed dramatically". We know it will be very hard, but we are confident.

"Our rivals will want to be drawn to meet us, but our ambition is to enjoy it and play with our attacking qualities like we always do". Monaco will be a bit more reserved defensively while looking to counter and get a goal, which would mean Dortmund would have to score three.

That attack left defender Marc Bartra needing hospital treatment following injuries to his wrist and arm after a window was shattered.

Teenage winger Kylian Mbappe has scored 21 goals, including two in the first leg last week.

As Dortmund kept pushing forward in numbers, Monaco was stretched down both flanks but, equally, Dortmund was increasingly exposed to slick counterattacking.
