Passenger train derails in Karnataka, none hurt

After detaching the derailed coaches, the remaining portion of the train consisting of eight coaches moved to the Kalagapur railway station, Kumar said in a release.

No loss of life of life or injuries to anyone were reported in the accident.

"Early today some bogies and engine of Aurangabad-Hyderabad passenger train derailed between Khalgapur and Bhalki stations in Bidar District of Karnataka", Anil Saxena, a railway official, told media.

Officials who rushed to the accident spot found several clues which pointed to sabotage.

Police said some passengers proceeded on their onward journey after the rest of the bogies were attached to another engine, while others were sent in 10 buses of the state transport department.

Personnel from the Railway Police and Karnataka Police, with the help of a canine squad, launched their own investigation, acting upon the suspicious conditions seen at the spot.

Even as the General Manager ordered a probe, officials began their investigation and found that the switch expansion joint, plate screws, nuts and brackets of the track were found open.

Arrangements have been made to evacuate the passengers from the site of derailment. Their further travel towards Hyderabad was arranged by the Bidar-Hyderabad Intercity Express. The passengers have safely reached Hyderabad.
