Guardiola: We were finally able to make 20-25 passes

Pep Guardiola has been delighted with the response of striker Sergio Aguero after coming back into the Manchester City side. "From a set piece we scored a goal and they had to push up and after that we could get some players between the lines and counter attack and kill the game".

With Arsenal, one of City's rivals for a top-four finish, losing 3-0 at Crystal Palace on Monday, and Manchester United looking increasingly to the Europa League for comfort, the picture is looking brighter for Guardiola as a testing first season in England draws to a close.

The 31-year-old Belgian's first Premiership goal in 20 months prompted an outpouring of relief, frustration and even praise, after two injury-ravaged seasons.

Explaining his improvement, Guardiola said: "I have said many times he is now involved [more] in the game".

He said: "My feeling before that was he was just waiting to score a goal".

An away trip to Southampton is always a tricky fixture in the Premier League and the Saints, yet again, proved to be a tenacious outfit on Saturday. Not just the defensive part - he's helped us a lot - but he is doing all he can do to create chances.

Meanwhile, in Brazil, a Selecao superstar has told the press of his admiration for fellow countryman, Gabriel Jesus. The team try to have possession and to give always a good response on the game.

Like in weeks past, us at ManCitySquare made a decision to continue our Combined Best XI idea for this week's match.

"I'm really happy and I want to stay there". We had no complaints. Players chosen are based off of form, and availability for the match.

ManchesterCity captain Vincent Kompany has a future at the club despite the defender's injury setbacks that have forced him to miss large chunks of the Premier League season, manager Pep Guardiola has said.

However, the Serbia playmaker's first-time shot sent the ball well over the crossbar.

"We can not forget he played against [Eden] Hazard, he played against Alexis [Sanchez] and he was brilliant".

How would City's season have panned out had they had a fully fit Kompany playing regularly? The guys out of contract can decide if they want to wait.

"We didn't show the Southampton quality on the pitch, we were nervous". I would like to have been injured less in my career but every single time [I get injured] I put in the hard work and carry on.
