The wounded Spurs were without their star forward and starting point guard, so you figured a road clunker could be in the offing.

AUSTRALIAN Patty Mills said he was not anxious about getting injured in the same way as San Antonio teammate Kawhi Leonard as the Spurs face up to Golden State Warriors in the second game of the NBA Western Conference Final series.

Kawhi Leonard is still missing for the Spurs, and the Warriors took advantage of that by rushing into a 17-point lead after the first quarter. Iguodala is a key component of the Warriors' Super Death Lineup. Pachulia's closeout on Leonard in Game 1 - which was called out by Popovich - led to Leonard's third sprained ankle in a week, which swung the series in the Warriors' favor.

Zaza Pachulia left the game after only seven minutes with a right heel contusion. He'll get an MRI on Wednesday. He is out with left knee soreness. Perhaps more importantly, they held San Antonio to a 16-point first quarter.

"I'm like, 'Warriors acting coach, '" he said, pointing to the logo on his shirt. And you have to believe. "So I literally start to go and I'm going to get in the far left lane to go through where we all go through, and a cop out of nowhere pulls in front of me and goes, 'Hey you, stop!". "I'm disappointed. The only way I can process this is I think it's not about the O's and X's or rebounds or turnovers or anything like that". It showed in the lack of edge, intensity ...

Oh, and San Antonio doesn't do a good job of replacing their two best players when confronted with the previous paragraph.

"LaMarcus has to score for us", Popovich said. "He can't be timid". He turned down shots in the first quarter. "I think we've maybe felt it too much, Kawhi (Leonard) being gone, in the sense that, as I watched, I don't think they believed".

At the same time, Steph Curry was uncorking his second straight monster game.

Stephen Curry scored 15 of his 29 points in the opening period.

"It's fun to watch", Durant said. "He gets everybody else going when he gets hot like that, creates open shots for everybody else".

At this point, the likelihood is that this series will not see the light of next weekend. The next closest player: Boston's Isaiah Thomas, who has 34 made 3s in 13 playoff games.

But Curry wasn't alone.

Kevin Durant added 16 points and Draymond Green provided another strong all-around performance with 13 points, nine rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks.
