Five years to the day after Nik Wallenda completed a suspenseful and drenching wirewalk across the lip of Niagara Falls, the family will return to the scene in something of an encore.

On June 15, the 34-year-old eighth-generation aerialist will dangle by her teeth from a helicopter hovering over the iconic cascades.

Vasquez Wallenda hopes to perform the stunt June 15, the fifth anniversary of her husband's televised 550-metre tightrope walk from the NY side of the falls into Canada.

The deal was announced after the Niagara County Legislature unanimously approved a resolution Tuesday night to free up $35,000 for the event.

This funding is contingent upon the City of Niagara Falls approving $35,000 as well.

"At this moment, I'm presuming it's a decision that involves only NY authorities because no one has approached the Niagara Parks Commission".

Diodati said he spoke recently with Wallenda and suggested he incorporate his wife's event with the ongoing Canada 150 celebrations.

"Nik Wallenda's 2012 walk captured a billion people around the world's imagination, and moreover, generated an economic impact estimated at $21.5 million, with $3.3 million in direct revenues to the City of Niagara Falls. We want to recapture that energy for our local economy", he added.

Five members of the Wallenda circus troupe fell from a high-wire in Sarasota, Florida, in February while practicing an eight-person pyramid.
