After touring the damage in Chetek on Wednesday, Gov. Scott Walker declared a state of emergency for Barron, Rusk and Jackson counties. Most of his roof is intact, and he lost mainly windows.

A confirmed tornado destroyed about 20 homes in central Kansas.

Dale Daily said Wednesday that he heard the warning siren sound about a half-hour before the tornado hit Prairie Lake Estate Mobile Park. "Between Chetek and Cameron there were several other areas that were damaged but this mobile home park was the center or the hub where most of our destruction is", Sheriff Fitzgerald explained.

"I thought we were done", said Tyson.

Multiple people were trapped inside homes after the tornado, KOCO.com reported.

Daily says he walked among the debris and helped free a man who was buried under a refrigerator and debris.

"This is, I think in terms of outright damage, both physical in terms of what it did to the landscape, but also in terms of the damage destroying people's homes I think it's the worst I've seen as governor".

Barton County spokeswoman Donna Zimmerman said Wednesday there are still power lines down across the county.

Manning said the same tornado that came from the southwest hit the Elk City housing addition Fairway near the municipal golf course.

In eastern Nebraska, winds damaged homes, farms and businesses and left thousands of people without electricity. Lightning blew siding and bricks off a home in Lincoln and a funnel cloud was spotted about 40 miles southwest of the city, near Exeter, but no damage was reported.

The storm knocked out telephone service.

"This was a supercell that developed, a discrete storm", he said Tuesday night.

"We have a lot of teams out in the field right now, trying to assess the damage, trying to get folks as much help as they need and try to recover personal items, from the damage as quickly as possible", said Pritchard.

For many, the images of this storm triggered a wide range of emotions.

Meanwhile, parts of northwest Oklahoma are under the highest risk category for severe weather, according to the Storm Prediction Center in Norman.

The New Auburn Area Fire Department First Responders had two trucks and six personnel at the scene, and the Bloomer Community Ambulance Service also responded.
