"Our most basic stance is that communication lines between South and North Korea should open", Lee Duk-haeng, a spokesman for the South's Unification Ministry, told reporters on Wednesday.

In the song, group members chant that "about THAAD we say no, no, no", a reference to the U.S. Army's missile defense system formally known as Terminal High Altitude Area Defense.

South Korea's new President Moon has admitted that a war with North Korea is by far not unlikely.

Beijing vehemently opposes the missile shield, saying its powerful radar will allow it to monitor missile launches, aircraft flights and other sensitive activities in northeastern China.

North Korea has made no secret of the fact that it is working to develop a nuclear-tipped missile capable of striking the United States mainland and has ignored calls to rein in its nuclear and missile programmes, even from China, its lone major ally.

"We are living in the reality where there is a high possibility of military clashes" along the disputed sea border off the Koreas' west coast or along the heavily-fortified land frontier that divides them, he said. He added that North Korea was making "preparations against cruise missiles".

He said limits on South Korean ballistic missile ranges "make no sense" and should be lifted, while strike options should be made available to allies in the region.

China's Foreign Ministry, in a later statement on its website, said Wang "fully explained" China's position on THAAD and asked South Korea to handle China's reasonable concerns appropriately. "It can be controlled and reversed by Beijing".

He wrote: 'North Korea has never respected that agreement, so we need not defer to it, either'.

Haley also criticised Moscow, after Russian President Vladimir Putin responded to North Korea's latest missile launch by saying that while his country opposed Pyongyang's nuclear programme, it was unacceptable for countries to intimidate North Korea.

A special envoy representing Moon is due to visit China on today for talks on THAAD and the overall bilateral relationship.

The United States said the missile landed close to Russian territory, but Moscow later said it fell in the ocean about 500 kilometers (310 miles) away and posed no threat.

North Korea has maintained that the missile test was in response to the nuclear dangers and threats posed by the U.S. and its allies.

In its response to the test, the USA government released a statement saying that "the United States maintains our ironclad commitment to stand with our allies in the face of the serious threat posed by North Korea".

South Korean President Moon Jae-in's bodyguard Choi Young-jae has taken Twitter by storm, with all eyes ogling this face in the president's security detail, dubbed as the "handsome brigade". His envoy for Russian Federation will leave next week.
