A man who appeared intoxicated drove his auto the wrong way up the Times Square street and plowed into pedestrians on the sidewalk, authorities and witnesses said.

Rojas is to be arraigned Friday.

De Blasio said there was no indication the incident was an act of terrorism.

According to a news agency, he said after being arrested: "You were supposed to shoot me!"

Witnesses described seeing people being loaded on to stretchers, shoes scattered around the scene and people in bloodstained blankets amid the carnage. The vehicle was traveling in the wrong direction on the sidewalk for about three blocks before the crash occurred, police and witnesses said.
