Even as Amazon announces its new Echo Show today, the company is also planning to add more features to all of its older Echo devices as well. It is called Echo Show and brings more voice skills to your home including two-way video calling, accessing smart home cameras, photos, weather forecasts, to-do and shopping lists, and more.

Amazon on Tuesday launched a new version of its popular Echo smart speaker with a display screen and better advertised sound quality. The Echo Show details will be posted as soon as it became available in the market. While you can already do that in a large number of ways, it might be easiest on the Echo Show, it's already sitting there on your counter.

In addition to live calls, Alexa will also have the ability to record and send voice messages to your contacts, or store them locally for other people in your home to listen to later.

It will be interesting to see whether this functionality is increased in the future to allow it to make voice calls outside of the home. Yesterday, we reported that an Echo with built-in display was spotted on Amazon's servers. YouTube videos, lyrics for the songs you love - those are among the things you can see on the screen.

A couple years ago, Amazon surprised the world by unveiling the Amazon Echo, a speaker-cum-personal assistant that not only plays music but also responds to commands that help you keep your life in order. The voice calls will work on any Echo device and on phones with the Alexa app, but video calls will only be supported on the Echo Show.

Amazon's newest update in its smart speaker line, which will be available in white or black, will cost $229.99 and go on sale June 28.
