It's for teams who go into the Europa League like us'.

Mourinho has launched a strong defence of £89.3m signing Paul Pogba, insisting he remains the best midfielder in the world.

"Smalling has a problem, a smalll problem that I think it is no problem for next week, but is a problem for the weekend".

"We will have Demi Mitchell, Scott McTominay, Josh Harrop, Matty Willock, Angel Gomes, Zachary Dearnley, I think that is it".

"You are punished for doing well and if we beat Celta we have the final on the Wednesday [May 24] and we play against Crystal Palace on the Sunday [May 21]", Mourinho said on May 1st. Most United fans loved to take the mickey out of Liverpool for saying they won the "treble" in 2000-01 when they won the League Cup, FA Cup and UEFA Cup, pointing out that only in 1999 was a proper treble - Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup - was achieved.

"It's the only positive thing".

"I think one [young player can play] in the middle of a good structure, a dynamic structure, an experienced structure, yes".

"You think you know the players, but you don't".

Obviously they will miss the game and be unable to play, but the footballers will be there to cheer on the side.

"I prefer to hand debuts to only one young player at a time".

"With so many at the same time, I think they really need my support, (reserves manager) Nicky Butt's support (and) supporters to understand the hard job they have, because it will not be an easy one for them".

Wayne Rooney may have no Old Trafford send-off to his 13-year Manchester United career after José Mourinho stated the captain will probably not feature in Sunday's final home game against Crystal Palace.

He said: "Paul is fine; strong guy, strong mentality". He is learning how to live after his father died, but he knows he needs to play on Sunday.

The Manchester United manager is keeping his stars fresh for the Europa League final against Ajax three days later and will only use "three or four" first-teamers when he would prefer more on duty to help the youngsters settle in. There was a full-on brawl at the Old Trafford tunnel which culminated in an Arsenal player (legend says it was Fabregas), throwing a pizza at Sir Alex Ferguson.

"The one that I really enjoy doing is the transition from the first to the second season because I know what I do, I know what I don't do".
