The leader of Britain's biggest workers' union has said he couldn't see the opposition Labour Party winning a June 8 parliamentary election, a remarkable statement from one of Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn's most powerful supporters.

The Daily Mail have sifted through JME's tweets, and found a few questionable moments amongst more than 159,000 posts.

Meanwhile Mr Corbyn's key union backer - Unite general secretary Len McCluskey - said Labour will have had a "successful" election campaign if it manages to hold on to 200 seats, restricting the increase in the size of Theresa May's majority.

Speaking to the Politico website Mr McCluskey had said the scale of the task for Labour was "immense" and admitted: "I don't see Labour winning".

- Jme (@JmeBBK)You know we don't care about the media, that's the whole reason why some of the tweets were even tweeted. However, let's be clear - what we will be putting over is the type of leader Jeremy will be, and people will respect him, I think.

I'm very proud to lead the Labour party. "To be frank, don't believe them". And I just say this too - this could be a young person's election, because large numbers of young people are registering, for the first time those interested in politics want to have their say.

Shadow chancellor John McDonnell has rejected suggestions that Labour MPs are distancing themselves from Jeremy Corbyn as he challenged a journalist to reveal their sources.

Guided by the strapline "For The Many: Not The Few", Corbyn's manifesto seeks to impose £50 billion in annual tax rises for top United Kingdom earners (+ £80,000 per year), combined with a return to nationalising United Kingdom civic services such as the Royal Mail, National Grid and transport sectors.

Mr McDonnell also told the BBC it was not true that Mr Corbyn was unpopular with the electorate, given how popular his policies were.
