However, it appears as though he isn't the only goalkeeper being linked with a move to Man Utd this summer, as the Manchester Evening News claim that Benfica's Ederson is also on the transfer shortlist.

De Gea has always been linked with a move to Real Madrid, but speculation has ramped up in recent weeks to suggest that this time round it could genuinely happen.

Jan Oblak reportedly has a £85m buyout clause in his contract with Atletico Madrid.

He has played second fiddle to De Gea in the Premier League, starting just two top-flight games.

That's because the Daily Star state that Mourinho has made Jan Oblak his number one target if De Gea does leave and is lining-up a £40m swoop for the Atletico Madrid goalkeeper. Sources have told ESPN FC that, although United will fight to keep De Gea at Old Trafford, they are realistic about the chances of him moving on and have received positive signals from Oblak and have sounded him out about a deal.

The Spanish keeper, who is rumoured to be set for a move to Real Madrid this summer, bought some bread the night after the club's annual awards bash at Old Trafford.

He is prepared to splash out a world-record £60million for a goalkeeper to replace current Bernabeu No 1 Keylor Navas.

"Now with the confidence that Jose gives me and the confidence the players give me, the confidence for me is very important and I will try and do my best for the team".
