Drake nabbed a record 13 trophies at the Billboard Music Awards Sunday (May 21) night.

Drake also scooped top male artist and top Billboard 200 album for Views after arriving with 22 nominations at the event, regarded as one of the biggest nights for commercial artists in the US.

Michael Jackson's son, Prince Jackson, presented the award to Drake, according to the Washington Post.

Other musical artists who were up for the BBMA for Top Artist were the Chainsmokers, Beyonce, Shawn Mendes, Justin Bieber, twenty one pilots, Rihanna, the Weeknd, Ariana Grande and Adele. There were many great moments and some funnier ones, like what happened when Drake got on stage to accept his award.

At the end of the video, Celine is seen nodding her head along to the beat, with her eyes fixed intently on the screen.

Accepting the award, she said: "I want to thank my mum because when I was really young my mum said you're not going to be the smartest, you're not going to be the prettiest, you're not going to be the most talented but you're going to be special".

Miley Cyrus delivered an emotional, but low-key performance and Vanessa Hudgens shined as co-host.

"We send our respects as well as our love to Chris' family at this time", Reynolds said. It was her first awards show performance in 15 years, and it seems as though she's been in a time capsule since then, because she looked fantastic.

Minaj kicked off the show with an explosive nine-minute performance of her hit songs alongside her mentor Lil Wayne and frequent collaborator David Guetta.

Korean-pop boy band BTS took the 2017 Billboard Music Awards by storm.

Even Drake took notice in his acceptance speech, adding that Hudgens looked "amazing", which drew envious looks from Nicki Minaj.

"This year, here I come, in the middle of the crowd, singing 20 years already", she said. Performing from the center of the famous Bellagio fountains in Las Vegas, the "More Life" rapper was surrounded by flames, water and fireworks as he rapped the song "Gyalchester". This doesn't mean that they won't be performing in the USA or other countries. "I'm ecstatic, and very honored to be here". The Electronic Dance Music (EDM) duo picked up Top Collaboration Award for their hit track Closer with Halsey. She sang to thousands of stunned fans - and probably made a few new ones in the process.
