In his own brief remarks Monday, Netanyahu said Israel shared Trump's commitment to peace as outlined in the president's address to the Arab leaders. The President discussed working even closer with Israel saying, "I believe that a new level of partnership is possible and will happen".

Trump insisted Monday that he never identified Israel as the source of that information, but intelligence agencies worry that details of the plot could allow the Russians to identify where the information came from. "It's never been better".

No one but Trump knows what he wrote in the note he left in the Western Wall.

Still, the latest iteration of the Russian Federation scandal didn't hog the headlines of Trump's Jerusalem visit. He called Trump's visit to the Western Wall particularly noteworthy given Obama's decision not to veto the "stupidest United Nations resolution ever", which declared that the site is not part of Israel.

The Israeli people want a two-state solution.

Rabbi Rabinowitz said: "For the very first time in history, the Western Wall Heritage Foundation staff and I have been given the privilege to host the President of the United States, Mr. Donald J. Trump, his wife Melania, his daughter Ivanka, and her husband Jared - here at the Western Wall Plaza". Speaking just after his arrival, he said: "We have before us a rare opportunity to bring security and stability and peace to this region and to its people, defeating terrorism and creating a future of harmony, prosperity and peace".

Trump conspicuously promised to move the embassy to Jerusalem at an AIPAC event in March of 2016. There are plenty of political landmines for a president to stumble over, particularly one who is known to go off-script.

Gott says Palestinians and Israelis don't always see eye to eye, "I think we have polarized in the last 10 years and can work together in becoming neighbors and friends".

"It doesn't look like Trump does much homework. In the minds of Israelis and Palestinians, nuance is what they look for", he told FP.

As Trump and Netanyahu talked, the pressures that underscore the complexities of any negotiation were evident.

Hazan has proved controversial throughout his two years in office.

But none of this appears to be straining the U.S. -Israel alliance.

"What's happened with Iran has brought numerous other parts of the Middle East toward Israel, and you could say that if there's a benefit, that would be the benefit", Trump said. Trump said the Saudi Arabia trip gave him "new reasons for hope" that peace could be achieved in the Middle East. Your visit is a symbol of the unbreakable bond between Israel and America.

Iran's foreign minister accused Trump of using foreign policy as an excuse for selling billions of dollars' worth of weapons to Saudi Arabia, its longtime foe. She said she's read Trump's book "How To Get Rich" and has been impressed by his success. You take seriously what they do when they're the prime minister, when they're the president.

Last week, according to a New York Times report, two USA officials, one current and one former, said Trump shared the intelligence supplied by Israel in the fight against Islamic State with the Russian officials during an Oval Office meeting earlier this month, which the American press was barred from attending.

Israel was hoping for a reset with Washington after strained ties under Trump's predecessor. Without formal relations, there aren't direct flights between the two nations.

Asked about his exchange with the United States president, Hazan told media that he was often referred to as the "Israeli Trump".
