The 22-year-old Portugal worldwide, who has been with Monaco for three years since joining from Benfica, is one of the most promising under-23 players in world soccer and will officially join on July 1.

"It feels great to have the opportunity of being trained by Guardiola, you don't say no".

That is the figure Liverpool paid for striker Andy Carroll, and it remains to be seen whether he would be willing to pay that much for a left-back, albeit for one of the best in Europe.

Two years later and the Brazilian global is hot properly, with not only Man City, but Man United, Barcelona and Juventus among those with eyes on a player capable of playing in a midfield or right-back role.

Silva has been tipped to join rivals Manchester United this summer, but City appear to have won the race for the Portugal global.

Guardiola's City finished third in the Premier League this season, securing Champions League football next year.

Bernardo Silva last season helped Monaco win the Ligue 1 and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Prior to joining up with City, Silva will represent Portugal in the FIFA Confederations Cup, having been named in the European champions' squad alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and former Monaco team-mate Joao Moutinho.

It proved successful as he made 42 appearances in all competitions in his debut season, scoring nine goals and his standout performances saw the Principality club pay more than £13million for the then 20-year-old.

Guardiola wants to sign two left backs and, as well as Mendy, City are keen on Southampton's Ryan Bertrand, while the Tottenham Hotspur right back Kyle Walker, who is valued by his club at £40 million, is also on their wish list.

Benjamin Mendy has sought to curb speculation linking him with Manchester rivals City and United by revealing that he is in Paris, not England.

He will officially sign for City on July 1. "It's great to be working with him and to have this opportunity".

Mendy, who has excelled in a youthful, attacking Monaco side this season, is reportedly set to cost City around £39m as the club began their rebuilding of the full-back areas.
