"Judy" is one such case of how an open and free mobile operating system (OS) can be exploited by malicious app developers. The news comes days after a malware called "Judy" hit over 36.5 million Android- based phones. Despite this, no one has managed to claim Google's largest bounties so the company has made a decision to substantially increase the reward in hopes of attracting more engineers and researchers to the program. The company today expanded its Android Security Rewards program because "no researcher has claimed the top reward for an exploit chain in two years". According to the security firm, the malware infected over 41 apps available at the Google PlayStore.

It is speculated that Google will further increase the reward price if it again fails to get to a working exploit for Android's core components. Some of the malware-affected apps have been discovered residing on the online store for several years.

Additionally, a remote kernel proof-of-concept could leave you $150,000 better off, up from $30,000.

The increased rewards apply to two bounties. In the past year, the average pay per researcher has jumped by 52.3 percent and the payout doubled to $1.1 million.

Bug bounty programs are an excellent addition to existing internal security programs.

Due to this, Google said it had chose to increase the top-line pay-outs of its "Security Rewards" programme.

Trust Zone is a system on a chip technology that helps to ensure that security software, system boot settings, and biometric data, such as the fingerprint scans used in touch ID systems, are secure.

Google has increased the bounty reward from $50,000 to $200,000 since 2015.

Verified Boot was introduced in Android KitKat as a means of ensuring that the phone's software had not been altered.
