Thomas Tuchel will not become the next head coach at Bayer Leverkusen, according to his agent Olaf Meinking.

Leverkusen are seeking a new manager after sacking Roger Schmidt in March for a poor run of results which ended with a 6-2 defeat to Dortmund and after deciding not to extend Tayfun Korkut's contract when the season finished they are looking at potential options.

However, Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller played down those links.

He said: "Thomas will not take charge of Leverkusen".

"We will see how things develop after his holiday".

"He could take some time off, but he could also move overseas".

Tuchel departed his role in charge of Dortmund at the end of the season after two years in charge of the Bundesliga club, and has been linked with a move to the BayArena. This season, after a host of off-season changes, Tuchel led Dortmund to third place in the Bundesliga behind promoted Leipzig, while finally winning the German Cup.

But on-field success was overshadowed by a rift between Tuchel and the Dortmund leadership dating back to the 2015-16 season and the summer transfer window that followed.
