Leaked NSA report highlights deep flaws in US elections

The federal contractor accused of leaking classified information to an online news outlet regarding a 2016 Russian military intelligence cyberattack complained about the Trump administration and posted about leaks on what appears to be her public Twitter account.

HOUSTON - A leaked intelligence document outlining alleged attempts by Russian military intelligence to hack into US election systems is the latest evidence suggesting a broad and sophisticated foreign attack on the integrity of the nation's elections.

A report surfaced Monday alleging that Russian military intelligence hacked a handful of state election systems in 2016.

Court documents accuse victor of mailing a classified report written on or about May 5 to an unnamed news organization.

The complaint did not link the charges with the story, but a senior federal official confirmed to NBC News that victor is the accused leaker of the document published by the Intercept. It's a bit short-sighted of the The Intercept's staff (and victor, of course!) to think the NSA doesn't have means of tracking its Top Secret reports.

Victor remained locked up Tuesday on federal charges that she made copies of classified documents containing top-secret material and mailed them to an online news organisation.

A yoga instructor, linguist, and an animal lover, victor was "just another normal person", according to Titus Nichols, her court-appointed attorney, as quoted in a report by CNN.

Investigators then found Winner's house in Augusta and arrested her while she was at home.

She was arrested on Saturday for allegedly "gathering, transmitting or losing defense information". "And so today, as the ranking on the rules committee, I asked for a classified briefing from the national security adviser for the Rules Committee because I think it's very important", Klobuchar said. She began working there in February and held a top secret government security clearance during her tenure.

Now, the impulse will be to focus on Winner: Did she break the law? What does the Justice Department accuse her of doing?

Winner-Davis said she was not aware of the details of her daughter's work or the charges against her.

Victor speaks at least four languages and served as a linguistics specialist for in the Air Force.

The affidavit doesn't mention any names, but it's clear it's accusing victor of having leaked the NSA report to The Intercept.

The magazine printed an article about the top secret NSA document on Monday but says it was provided anonymously.

An affidavit by Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Justin Garrick said the government found out about the leaked documents from the news outlet that received them. He said the agency that housed the report was able to identify six people - including victor - who had made copies of the report. But government agencies like the NSA classify information for a reason (not always a good one, but a reason nonetheless).

But what makes such people believe they know better than everyone else?
