Queller and Rovner's promotion is brought about by the exit of co-creator and co-showrunner Ali Adler, as reported by Deadline. Rovner became an executive producer at the start of season two and now Queller is being promoted as well. Queller is now also being promoted to executive producer, joining fellow exec producers Kreisberg, Greg Berlanti, Rovner and Sarah Schechter. She will remain an executive consultant for Supergirl as well. The two will be sharing co-showrunning duties with series' co-creator Andrew Kreisberg. Adler, who has been one of the pioneering minds behind Supergirl has signed an overall deal with CBS TV Studios earlier this year. Prior to the announcement, Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller have proved time and time again how they will be a good addition as showrunners.

Queller's credits include Gilmore Girls, Gossip Girl and Blood & Oil. Therefore, promoting her is obviously a wise decision for the series' plot development in the future as her previous projects were dominated by females. Rovner previously worked on Private Practice, Crossing Jordan, Dallas and American Dreams.

"Supergirl" Season 3 premieres on The CW on Monday, October 9, 2017.
