Deng, Sefolosha, Nowitzki among NBA Africa captains

Nowitzki and Walker will captain Team World, while Sefolosha and Deng are captains for Team Africa.

Team Africa will be captained by the Los Angeles Lakers' Luol Deng, a two-time NBA All-Star who is from the South Sudan, and the Atlanta Hawks' Thabo Sefolosha, an 11-year NBA veteran whose father was born in South Africa.

The exhibition will match a team with African ties against a world team.

The game will take place in Johannesburg.

Sefolosha, who is from Switzerland, has one parent who is from South Africa. "The first NBA Africa Game in 2015 was a lot of fun, and it will be a privilege to play in front of our African fans once again". Explosive point guard never played in Africa before.

"I'm really excited to represent Team World in the second NBA Africa Game this summer", Nowitzki said in a statement.

The sold-out NBA Africa Game 2015, the first NBA game on the continent, took place August 1, 2015, at Ellis Park Arena in Johannesburg.

The game follows the 15th edition of Basketball without Borders Africa, where NBA coaches and players educate young players from Africa on the game of basketball and important issues, such as education and HIV/AIDS prevenetion.

The game will benefit UNICEF, the Nelson Mandela Foundation and SOS Children's Villages South Africa (SOSCVSA). "I also look forward to returning to South Africa after taking part in the Basketball without Borders Africa camp eight years ago".
