Jared Kushner might be singlehandedly tasked with securing peace in the Middle East among other totally reasonable assignments from his father-in-law, but today he basked in the warm glow of his favorite private sector heroes. Kushner also played a leading role in planning Trump's visit to Saudi Arabia, where he addressed a rare summit of the leaders of about 50 Muslim nations, and called for a united front against terrorism and extremism.

Kushner revealed in his introductory remarks that the "goal here is simple" to "improve" the daily lives of America's average citizen, a "core promise" that the Trump administration intends to keep. Greenblatt himself arrived on Monday, and while he is scheduled to hold meetings in Jerusalem and Ramallah until Thursday, Kushner will be here only one day. "He has established friendly relations; each sides wants to do more to deepen those positive relations with him".

Trump's worldwide negotiations representative Jason Greenblatt arrived in the region on Monday, while Jared Kushner, Trump's senior adviser and son-in-law, will fly in on Wednesday.

Shapiro said that Trump also made clear that "he has "asks" of those leaders as well, and because of his known unpredictability, including his twitter feed, he is very hard to say no to".

The visit is seen as an early step in the negotiation process. "And my guess is they won't", he said.

"I think they should move quickly".

Speaking with Ms Trump in the audience, Mr Kushner said he was warned when he first took a job in the administration that he would find a bureaucracy resistant to change. The question, of course, is whether Trump's administration will be afforded the time its chief deputy needs.
