Trump not under investigation, says his lawyer

Senator Marco Rubio of Florida said, "The FBI is going to do its job".

Donald Trump has now hired Christian right lawyer Jay Sekulow, whose track record of lying is nearly as bad as his own, and is sending him out to defend him in the media.

Earler this month, Press Secretary Sean Spicer said Trump's tweets were official statements and that "the President is the most effective messenger on his agenda". Ledgett wrote a memo, according to the source, documenting a conversation in which the president allegedly urged Rogers to help get the FBI to lift the cloud of the Russian Federation investigation. Then he bounced up on "Fox News Sunday", informing Chris Wallace that Trump, in fact, "is being investigated for taking the action that the attorney general and deputy attorney general recommended him to take".

The two were formerly law partners at Washington firm WilmerHale.

"Why don't you just pick up the phone and call Bob Mueller and ask whether or not your client has any role in their investigation?"

Reynolds notes that all that's required to disqualify Justice Department conflict of interest rules is just the appearance of a conflict. Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the House intelligence committee, said that the panel - overseeing one of several congressional investigations - is looking forward to getting a response from the White House on whether recordings exist. Mueller's office has taken up that work, and the preliminary interviews scheduled with intelligence officials indicate that his team is actively pursuing potential witnesses inside and outside the government.

Lawmakers say investigators will get to the bottom of this.

As the investigation moves forward, Trump will continue to speak out against what he believes to be a political conspiracy.

Meanwhile, it is no secret that there are both Senate and House committees that are investigating the President. He spoke Monday on CNN.

Jared Kushner has been represented on business matters and other issues by Jamie Gorelick. Abbe D. Lowell, a prominent trial attorney who represented Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff in a 2005 corruption scandal and is now representing NJ Sen.

Kushner's contacts with Russians during the transition have been scrutinized as part of the widening probes into whether Trump's team coordinated with Moscow during the election.

According to 18 USC 4 and 28 USC 1361, if at the time Mr. Comey believed the comment constituted obstruction of justice, he was legally required to report it. Donald Trump's lawyer is still falsely arguing that the DOJ doesn't have the right to investigate the President, if that gives you a sense of what he's bringing to the table for President Trump.

The questions were prompted by a tweet the president wrote last week in which he appeared to acknowledge that he is a subject of the FBI's investigation, which he seem to erroneously assert is being led by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

"I don't know what the facts will show or what the special counsel will conclude, but Kasowitz, Sekulow & Dowd is not the dream team", he tweeted after the Fox News exchange. On Sunday, Trump's attorney insisted that this is not the case, and that the President was merely reacting to a Washington Post story that first reported about an investigation for obstruction of justice.

Ironically, there is a viable case for obstruction of justice to be asserted against Comey, which stands in contrast to the questionable Post story on purported obstruction of justice investigation of the president.
