On Sunday, Scalise's Twitter account featured a Father's Day message thanking well-wishers for their "outpouring of love" and giving a special nod to his family.

Scalise remains in critical condition in a Washington, D.C. hospital following yesterday's early morning attack during a GOP team baseball practice in Arlington, Virginia. Tickets for the game were selling at the rate of 500 per hour following the shooting, with proceeds benefiting a number of local charities.

The source said investigators were not sure of the significance of the names and did not know if it was a list of people Hodgkinson was targeting.

The FBI, ATF, U.S. Capitol Police and Alexandria Police said Thursday that said the shooter's weapons were a 9 mm handgun and a 7.62 caliber rifle, which he appears to have purchased legally. The shooter was an IL man, James Hodgkinson, who had lashed out against President Donald Trump and Republicans over social media. He died after officers in Scalise's security detail fired back at him.

For three months, James T. Hodgkinson lived out of a white cargo van ...

The man who shot Scalise and others at the baseball practice had with him a piece of paper with doodles and the names of three lawmakers, according to a person familiar with the case. The bullet traveled across his pelvis, fracturing bones, injuring internal organs, and causing severe bleeding.

The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Scalise remained in critical condition on Thursday after the latest surgery.

While Scalise continues to recover, a tight-knit group of family, friends, and colleagues continue to hold vigil at his bedside and at the hospital.

USA politicians are playing in a charity baseball game a day after a shooting - as they practised - wounded a top Republican and three others.

House Speaker Paul Ryan and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi told CNN's Jake Tapper on "Erin Burnett OutFront" that despite party affiliation they were both on "Team Scalise" on Thursday. He is the House's No. 3 GOP leader. "He's going to be OK".

The U.S. congressman who was shot and seriously injured in an attack on Republican lawmakers is showing "signs of improvement", hospital officials said Saturday.

The crowd started clapping and chanting United States of America after the first pitch was thrown by injured Capitol Police Officer David Bailey, one of the two officers on the congressman's security detail who've been credited with saving his life and potentially many others.

His congressional post as House majority whip, the third-ranking member of the Republican leadership, presumably will remain vacant during the recuperation period. He has undergone several surgeries and has more ahead.

Democrats won 11-2 and in a touching move gave their trophy to Republicans to put in Scalise's office. "We wanted to show our support especially for Congressman Scalise and everybody". The Capitol's usual partisan combativeness, though not absent, was less pointed than usual, and warm words were exchanged between some lawmakers with starkly opposing political philosophies.

Rep. Roger Williams (R-Texas) was injured after diving into the dugout during the incident.
