Who is Trump's new lawyer, Jay Sekulow?

Sekulow told "Fox News Sunday" and three other shows that Trump's tweet was based exclusively on a Washington Post report, and he insisted Trump wasn't under investigation.

"Sekulow and his son Jordan opened affiliated offices of the ACLJ in Africa to lobby politicians to 'take the Christian's views into consideration as they draft legislation and policies, ' according to ACLJ's website", Mother Jones reported in 2012, when Jay Sekolow was advising Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. "He's saying that nobody has ever notified the president that he's under investigation", she said.

When Wallace noted that Sekulow had just admitted Trump was under investigation, Sekulow accused the host of trying to "re-phrase" his words - prompting Wallace to say "the tape will speak for itself".

"Comey talking about whether or not the president is under investigation has nothing to do with dealing with now with Mueller, who, common sense, if nothing else, is looking at whether the circumstances surrounding the firing of Comey", Cuomo said.

"Sekulow went out yesterday for a significant reason", America's Newsroom anchor Bill Hemmer said on Fox News Monday morning, before asking former Gov. John Sununu to appraise Sekulow's performance. He said Trump's tweet was not a confirmation of the investigation, but instead a response to a report in The Washington Post. "That the president was not and is not a target of investigation", Sekulow answered.

Sekulow said Trump is savvy on Twitter and reaches over 100 million people whenever he wants to get a message across on social media. "He's not afraid of the investigation - there is no investigation", Sekulow added.

"It was a busy weekend because the Washington Post issued a story that was just fabricated", Sekulow told CBN's Gordon Robertson Monday.

"Now you're reading minds again", Wallace said.

"You're right, Chris, I can't read the mind of the special prosecutor, but I have not been notified, no one has been notified that he is", Sekulow said.

That said, I don't think any parent dreams of putting their baby through law school so he can be humiliated on national television by Guy at Bar with Sudden Moment of Clarity. "You know it exists. Why not just find out?" Look, I'm a lawyer. As Salon's Heather Digby Parton points out, Sekulow's wife, brother, sons and sister-in-law "dominate the boards of both organizations" in an arrangement not dissimilar from how Trump ran his business and, to a lesser extent, the White House. I'm his lawyer. He made a statement.
