Rahul Yadav, founder of online real estate site Housing.com has joined Anarock Property Consultants, floated by Anuj Puri has its chief technology and product officer. So far, the real estate sector has not been able to emulate the success of ecommerce for consumer durables and services. Real estate advisories, online property listing aggregators and even developers have made some headway, but this field nevertheless remains underserved because of lack of integration with credible expert offline advisory and transaction support. The online real estate business is still in a fledgling stage in India, and we are taking the lead in boosting it into maturity. "We intend to change that, and Rahul Yadav's experience in harnessing the consumer housing market via technology will add the key element", he added. In short, the continued challenge lies in successful sales conversion in a manner which also places the customer's interests first.

"Indian residential buyers and investors will not embrace an ecommerce model of property purchase unless they get a seamless experience from online selection to offline advisory and transaction closure", says Puri.

The investors brought Jason Kothari to run Housing, who cut costs, improved revenue and eventually help sell the company to News Corp owned PropTiger in January 2017 for around $ 70 million.

"Given my product and technology background, I am fascinated by the highly tech-driven approach that ANAROCK is adopting for its residential real estate business", Rahul told the media. He was ousted from the well-funded startup in 2015 with the company's board stating that "his behaviour is not befitting of a CEO and is detrimental to the company, known for its innovative approach to product development, market expansion and brand building".

After his departure from Housing.com, Yadav had started a now-defunct data analytics firm Intelligence Interfaces and had also advised Lodha Group for a brief period. Ltd, is essentially the rebranded avatar of JLL's erstwhile residential brokerage business, which Puri acquired earlier this year. Yadav, an IIT-Bombay drop-out and former CEO and co-founder of Housing.com, will be building a team of product and technology experts at ANAROCK and will be based out of its Mumbai office in Bandra-Kurla Complex.
