Freddie Freeman has been activated from the disabled list and will begin his stint as the Braves' starting third baseman during Tuesday night's game against the Astros at SunTrust Park.

Freeman, who had played first base his entire time in the majors, began working out at third base two weeks ago during his recovery period.

But that's the side of the diamond Freeman will call home for now, thanks to Matt Adams' hot hitting since he was acquired to step in for Freeman after the All-Star suffered a broken wrist May 17. Adams, meanwhile, has a.285/.333/.589 slash line with 12 homers in 39 games since coming to Atlanta.

Freeman has not played third base extensively since high school and has not appeared there professionally since 2007, when he played five games at third base as a 17-year-old in the rookie Gulf Coast League.
