Two killed in blaze at El Salvador finance ministry

A major fire in El Salvador's Finance Ministry has left at least two people dead and 22 others injured. A horrifying video of the moment he fell onto a lower roof was shared online.

The nation's President, Salvador Sanchez Ceren, visited the site and told local television that one woman, a union worker, died in the blaze, while another person had died in hospital. Three more people were in a bad state and being operated on.

The fire is thought to have burned about four floors of the 10-story office building in the country's capital of San Salvador. It was unclear if this was the same person mentioned by the president.

At least 50 people were evacuated from the building, according to emergency services spokesman Carlos Fuentes.

In one of the buildings of the Ministry of Finance of El Salvador there was a fire that killed a woman, another 25 people were taken to hospital with carbon monoxide poisoning and burns.

The government sent in helicopters to rescue people in the ministry as video showed thick plumes of smoke streaming from the building.

Emergency crews said he was in grave condition in hospital.
