Bakayoko, a midfielder with Monaco, was at Chelsea's Cobham training ground today to undergo his medical and finalize his approximately £40 million move.

The France global joined Monaco in 2014 and he was integral to helping the club beat rivals Paris Saint-Germain to the Ligue 1 title last season.

Chelsea have granted both Diego Costa and Nemanja Matic permission to miss the club's pre-season tour of China and Singapore - amid the duo's negotiations for an exit from Stamford Bridge.

Tiemoue Bakayoko has travelled to England with Chelsea hot favourites to sign him - but could there be a twist in the transfer story?

But there is a puzzle with his tweet - the message lists his location as Manchester, not London.

The midfielder, central to Chelsea's title success last season, appeared to be on the verge of a £40m move to Old Trafford last month, with Tiemoue Bakayoko coming in to replace him.

Bakayoko then tweeted again, this time posting red and white circles with two love hearts, again from Manchester.

Matic joined Chelsea from Benfica back in 2014 and has made over 100 appearances for the club since moving to England.

The Red Devils already have Michael Carrick - who was recently named the club's new captain - available in the role while Ander Herrera won the Player of the Year award last campaign for his impressive showings in midfield.

The Twitter posts had Chelsea fans anxious that Manchester United were set to hijack another transfer following the Romelu Lukaku move.

Romelu Lukaku joined United in a similar fashion, despite being in pole position to sign for the London giants, who were considered the favourites. The Premier League Champions have added Antonio Rudiger from Roma, further increasing their defensive options and adding competition for David Luiz, Gary Cahill and Cesar Azpilicueta but they remain light up top and the Blues must rectify this before the beginning of August.

Neville is, however, of the opinion that United need more cover and feels Matic, as a proven Premier League performer, would tick all of the boxes.
